Blog or Not

Our blog stats show average visitor numbers are from 30 to 130 per day. Visitors come from as far away as Australia. Tony M, however, recently asked at a meeting how many of our actual club members look at the blog and there were several shakings of heads which leads to the question, "Is blogging worthwhile or would we be better served by a more static,less time consuming website that simply gives visitors details of the club venue, times and calendar?"

You can receive an e-mail message when the blog is updated by submitting your e-mail address in the box on the right. 

There are only three subscriptions.

Club members please vote whether the blog should continue beyond the end of the current club calendar by clicking on your preferred option in the poll on the right.

Many thanks to Tony D who has/has had the blog as his home page for a long time as this will have affected visitor numbers :)

    Joy you do a fabulous job with the blog. I must admit I'm a bit confused, easy at your age do I hear some say, we have a good viewing figures and the votes seem to indicate that today (the 10th) nearly 50% of the club members want to keep it. That's great but why oh why do people not get involved? It takes very little time to post pictures and even less to comment and you don't have to be a member of APS to comment. It's by exchanging thoughts and ideas that you improve your photography. In this digital age the nuts and bolts (all those un-necessary buttons on the back of your camera and the intricacies of PS) have become more important that what you do with them. All the camera gadgets in the world will never take interesting images on their own but the nut behind the view finder can with even the simplest of cameras and PS can't turn an uninteresting image in to a good one. Over the years I've been in several organisations both photographic and other interests and members are generally in two groups 'doers' and 'bums on seats'; the former usually the smaller group. Nothing really ever changes. I'll admit that I'm not as active as I used to be but that does not mean I don't care or have lost interest. It's an old saying but a true one..."Use it or lose it".
