Heritage Open Days give opportunities to visit sites for free that are not normally open to the public or are offering a special event. The next Heritage Open Days are 6th - 9th September.
There is not a lot on offer locally but this site may be useful to those of you who are visiting other counties in early September. Surprisingly there are no sites open in Lichfield this time. A couple of years ago we enjoyed a fascinating guided tour of ancient alms houses.
A quick search for places to visit in the West Midlands brought up:
*Take a tower tour at St Martin in the Bull Ring
*The Pen Room Museum, Hockley
*St John the Baptist’s Church, Coventry - take a guided tour the church. There will be a flower display on the theme of Sport.
*St Francis of Assisi Parish Church, Wednesbury
*Beatties House of Fraser Heritage Room, Wolverhampton
